About Me

Hi everyone and welcome to my Workout Underwear page. Athletic endeavours have always been a big part of my life and they have shaped (both mentally and physically) the adult that I am today. As a child growing up in Canada, I not only played every team sport I could access (yes, even American Football – although being small soon put a stop to that!), I also cross-country skied, hiked, fished and rode horses.

All these athletic pursuits (particularly the riding) have given me the benefit of a great rear end, but the downside is that I struggle to find underwear that doesn’t try to, um well, crawl inside!

A Story of my Fitness Life

As an attempt to undo some physical damage done by the last 10 years spending 40 hours a week in front of a computer I recently started CrossFit. As a form of functional fitness I absolutely love it, but boy do you need the right clothes! I’ve stumbled into a 6am class more than once with the wrong underwear and wrong bra for a high intensity WOD (workout of the day).

Lace burns – I’ve been there!

Thongs heading North – Check!

VPL or worse, bum crack because the new leggings are too thin or not cut for my … gluteus maximus – Yup, Guilty!

And of course, the girls… I have nothing but sympathy for you well-endowed ladies, my poor 32B’s had to endure box jumps on the day I forgot a sports bra and they hurt so much that I almost didn’t make it to work that morning.

So I obviously had to replace my old workout gear – but where to start?

The game has changed, and the gear with it!

My mother is still adamant that I should only wear light coloured cotton knickers (or underwear if you’re not from the UK) and that all bras are the same, it is one area where we respectfully disagree (and to avoid arguments, when she visits she stays well away from any laundry).

Like training methods and equipment, women’s gym clothing is constantly evolving to satisfy an overwhelming combination of use or type of exercise, technical materials, the abundance of different female shapes and of course fashion considerations. This has generated a mine field of options – and your workout underwear selection wrong can be at minimum embarrassing, and often painful to boot.

Taking the pain out of workout underwear

If you’re like me, you’d rather be exercising in comfort than sitting on the sofa visiting 10 different websites and trying to compare their styles, prices and purpose of their exercise gear… you’ll also be cursing that time that you ended up with lace burn and sore boobs the day of that important work presentation. We work hard and play hard – we should be supported by our underwear, not let down!

So have a look around and if you have anything to share with respect to the intricacies of workout clothes in general and underwear in specific I would love to hear it!

If you ever need a hand or have any questions, feel free to leave them below and I will be more than happy to help you out.

All the best,

Lisa
